The first and long overdue retrospective of Elizabeth “Libby” Russell-Kulcsar’s artistic talent is debuting at Keegan Ales during the months of July and August. Her work encapsulates the romance and beauty of the Hudson Valley along with her trips aboard over the years to the shores of Ireland.

Elizabeth Russell-Kulcsar (fondly known as “Libby”) resides in Clintondale and has a large loving family including: four children and twenty-four grand-children and great grand-children. Family members, from various areas of New York and Pennsylvania have carefully delivered and lent some of these paintings back for this great exhibit. Other selections are from Mrs. Kulscar’s personal collection. Over the recent years, her neighbor would visit her home and with every visit she would tell Libby her paintings were meant to be seen and enjoyed by all ~ thus her very first art gallery opening at Keegan Ales. Elizabeth “Libby” has taken great delight, and with that oh so familiar little sparkle in her eye, has proclaimed, “Move Over Grandma Moses!”

Mrs. Kulcsar’s career, and identity as a photographer and painter, was kick-started, while she attended high school in Leonia, New Jersey. She grew up there and was influenced by many the well-known local artists there.

When she graduated from L.H.S in 1937, the Depression was still gripping the country, and artists of all types were literally considered “starving artists”. Libby then had to consider those current times and her artistic future. In doing so, she began to notice that most advertising was illustrated with photographs. Hence, It was her decision to study Commercial and Portrait Photography at the New York School of Photography. This then led to a very long and successful photography career. Her love of painting never was forgotten and this exhibit is just a sampling of her lifetime works. Throughout the years and in her travels her photography has inspired her paintings. The display consists of a mix of watercolors, oils, and chalk. Please come and join us for Elizabeth Russell-Kulcsar Art Opening at Keegan Ales. Details below.

The Opening (including light refreshments) will be held on July 2nd on Saturday at 5 pm. The show will continue through the months of July and August and can be enjoyed during the normal operating hours for Keegan Ales (Tues-Thurs: 4pm to 10pm; Fri & Sat: 12pm to 12am; Sun: 1pm to 10pm).

If you remember back a few weeks ago, I visited Keegan Ales with Henry and drank a mason jar of their Joe Mama’s Milk Stout. Westmere Beverage Brew Crew just got this on tap so I got an entire 64oz GROWLER full of it! Since I had so much I decided to ask three friends to come by and help me kill the growler: Eric, Toni and Anthony. We all met at Mahar’s and they are great, fun people who know their beer. This was their first time ever trying to formally review a beer and their first time on YouTube so there please excuse any camera shyness. This is also the first time we’ve ever reviewed a growler on Chad’z Beer Reviews!
